A once-dear friend of mine looked over at me while we were sitting on the front porch - or maybe we were on the phone? - and he said, "Rina... most people will see someone walk out into the middle of the street, get hit by a bus, and say, 'Huh. Maybe I ought not do that.' But not you. You -have- to walk out into the street to get hit by your own bus. It's a stupid way to learn."
